KID CHOW SCHOOL LUNCH FALL 2012 AT RUSD
We are thrilled to be embarking upon our second decade of lunch service to Bay Area students. Kid Chow’s mission is to serve the highest quality, locally sourced meals in a sustainably responsible and affordable way. We are committed to using the best possible ingredients: ABF and hormone free meats and dairy, nitrate-free deli and 100% fresh organic fruit and vegetables EVERY DAY (ok, 90% when nature doesn’t cooperate!). Our menu and facility is nut-free and offers an array of gluten-free, non-dairy and vegetarian menu options. Kid Chow offers kids a VIRTUAL CAFETERIA; each lunch from our extensive daily selection is custom-ordered and individually packed right down to the bread, condiment and snack in each student’s lunch. The type of beans in your child’s burrito matters! Your child will receive a personalized, homespun meal as though it were prepared at home by you.
We’ve included our preliminary fall menu on the reverse side of this letter. For more information, download Kid Chow’s Allergy and Nutrition charts in the FAQ section.
Lunch Start Date:
Kid Chow lunch service will begin on Monday, August 27th. Your first order deadline is Monday, August 20th.
Pizza Day
– THURSDAYS will be PTA-sponsored Pizza Day fundraiser offered to ALL RUSD students. Pizza will be provided by local pizza vendors Rocco’s and Stefanos. Pizza orders are placed through a special online form and not the standard Kid Chow website. Pizza Day flyers with the specific ordering information will be handed out to students the first day back at school. No Kid Chow is offered on Thursdays.
Price
: Each Kid Chow lunch comes with a portioned entrée by grade range and optional “a la carte” sides and drink. Entree prices are $3.50 (K-4th), $4.00 (5th-8th). Sides ($.75) and optional drinks are available for an additional cost. A portion of each lunch purchase goes to the RUSD PTA. Kid Chow entrees are targeted at 80% of the USDA recommended portion size for each grade level and do not constitute a complete meal.
NEW
