Public education is supposed to be free. Why should I donate to The Foundation?

Public education is free, but quality education is not. Reed Union School District does not receive enough public funding to maintain the high level of education our children deserve and parents desire. The need for The Foundation's financial support has never been greater. It is up to us, as a community, to bridge this financial gap.

Why is The Foundation raising the goal again this year?

Our community is growing. In 2011-12, there were approximately 1,400 students enrolled at Reed, Bel Aire and Del Mar schools. This year, that number has risen to over 1,500. Our district does not receive money on a per student basis. Almost all of our funding comes from a flat percentage of property taxes. Due to the highest enrollment growth in over 40 years, we must increase our goal to $1.8 million to maintain standards of excellence for each child.

How much should I donate to The Foundation?

Please donate an amount that is meaningful to you. It costs RUSD approximately $1,250 per child to provide this well-rounded education. Donations can be spread over the year under any installment plan that fits your needs. Every donation makes a difference for our children.
