Each trimester, more than 20 second grade students at Reed Elementary are selected to be part of the Green Team. The goal of this group is to demonstrate the Character Pillars and show Respect and Responsibility to the environment. After lunch, two Green Team members will make sure the lunch area is free of litter. Children encourage each other to keep trash in the trash can and to recycle lunch bags from Kid Chow.
The Green Team also helps plant and harvest the School Garden. Here some children are cleaning up weeds and picking vegetables.
Green Team Donates Lettuce!
Once a year the Green Team harvests the lettuce and vegetables and donates them to a local church. They are served at a luncheon for the less fortunate.
