Hello Del Mar families,
6th grade families: India Day is this Friday! Dancers, singers and musicians will perform, Indian food will be served at lunch and a a range of fun activities will make it a very special day. be sure to ask you child about their day. Special thanks to the PTA for their support.
7th grade families: Beginning to think of next year and beyond? Have questions about Math placement? How about Spanish? Thinking of the high school application process already? Join me on March 25th at 8:30 AM in the Del Mar library to discuss and hopefully answer your questions. I have invited Dr. Gold to join us as well.
8th grade families: A reminder about graduation attire: please be sure your girls follow the dress code and have appropriate coverage for the graduation ceremony. Also, be sure they can walk in their shoes as there are stairs involved. Boys, no jeans and t-shirts. Tell them a little "dress up" never hurt anyone....
Also , if you haven't signed and returned the spring behavior letter, please do so asap.
Feel free to contact me with ay questions or concerns- or positive feedback!

Phoebe Hearst Outstanding Educator Award
Each year, PTA honors one teacher in our District with the Phoebe Hearst Outstanding Educator Award. The winner receives a $500 grant from RUSD PTA and his/her name on a plaque that is displayed in the Superintendent’s office. The historical award recognizes professional excellence and extraordinary personal commitment by an educator. The award will be given to the teacher who wins at a ceremony on May 20, 2010. Excerpts from all parent recommendations for EVERY teacher nominated will be read at this ceremony. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all of the many caring and outstanding teachers in our district.
In this spirit, I encourage all the parents of the District to submit recommendations for this prestigious award.
Criteria include: teacher’s relationship with the student, excellent teaching and class management skills, ability to create enthusiasm about learning, responsiveness to parent’s needs and concerns, and “going the extra mile” for the student.
A recommendation does not need to be lengthy, formal or complex. A few sentences will suffice.
You may nominate more than one teacher and I encourage you to do so.
Please do not forget our wonderful specialists.
Letters or emails can be sent to: kellyscannell@pacbell.net or mailed to 1 Acela Dr Tiburon CA 94920
Once again, Chris Carter will read an excerpt from EVERY teacher nominated, so please take a moment to recognize all of the teachers that make a difference in our children’s lives.
Letters must be received by April 9, 2010.
Thank you for taking this time,
Kelly Scannell
PTA President
