Track & Field
Season: March-May
Qualifying Meet: April 25th
County Championships: May 2nd
How it works: The Track & Field Team is part of our PE curriculum here at Del Mar. All events, training, and preparations are conducted during your child's PE class and there are no after school practices or commitments. Because we’ve built it into our curriculum, we’re able to include far more athletes, resulting in one of the largest teams in the county! Each school then participates in a qualifying Area Meet where students compete for a spot at the County Championships. Del Mar is the host one of the Southern Marin Area 4 Meet which takes place at Tam High School. The team is composed of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. As inclusive as we strive to be, please note that due to the nature of the sport, as well as the limited spots in each event, we cannot take every student to the meet. Selection is simply based on the best overall scores, which includes fastest times, highest heights, and farthest distances achieved during the unit.
