Intermediate Art 7/8

This class is geared toward building a young artist’s skills and ability to communicate meaning visually with an image or images. Student artists will learn about the history of art  by learning about various artists, cultures and exposure to various disciplines and techniques using an array of materials. Students will have an opportunity to practice and improve their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, photography and printmaking. Students will have an opportunity to work both analog, using paper, pencil and physical materials and digitally with Apps like Autodesk Sketchbook, Photoshop and other new Art Apps. Throughout the year, our young artists will have  an opportunity to show and display their artwork in school and in other community art exhibitions and shows.

Advanced Art 7/8

This class is for the 7th or 8th grade artist who has a deep interest  in the  visual arts and making art. Intermediate art experience is recommended but not necessary—anyone with a strong interest and is self motivated can apply.  In this class, young artists will be encouraged to find their artistic voice and express it in their work. They will have the opportunity to learn about artists and explore materials and styles that interest them. Our artists will paint, draw, print and sculpt with teacher/student-designed projects throughout the year. During the last trimester our student artists will explore their own interests by working on projects they have personally  designed to explore materials and styles they are interested in exploring. Throughout the year, our young artists will have  an opportunity to show and display their artwork in school and in other art exhibitions and shows in the community.
